Hundredth heron.

This is the one hundredth Daily Heron post.  I’m taking off for a while, because the herons have too. They’re spending much of their time tending to their nests, and soon will be busy with their young.   This makes them harder to find away from the heronries.   Anything of heronal significance over the summer I’ll post at Rock Paper Lizard.   Thank you for reading this blog.  I’ll let you know at RPL when it starts up again.

Fighting the wind.

Yesterday was the kind of day that Great Blue Herons, and almost any other bird that dared take wing, at times found themselves flying backwards.  It was an extremely windy day, especially near the water.
